GLBTIQ - Home Life - 17th Sept 2009
This week Hear Me Raw talks to Lesa Beel who is interviewing people who consider themselves part of the LGBTI or queer community about their experiences of home and what role the idea of home plays in their lives. The research was prompted by statistics indicating that young people were often made homeless or ejected from their family of origin due to their sexuality/gender. Lisa is also fascinated by the way people make home - for example what same sex headed families were doing that might challenge or reinforce the dominant discourses of homemaking or what it means for a person transitioning from one gender/sex to another or coming out - and what it means to not always be at home in your skin.
...anyone wanting to be part of the research, or wanting to find out more information can contact Lesa on 0432 911 284 or by emailing lesa.beel@student.rmit.edu.au .
